  • From Miami to Malaga: An enchanting elopement in Ronda

Warning: If you read about this stunning elopement in Ronda it will make you want to elope to Ronda asap. Don't say you weren't warned!

As a wedding celebrant in Spain, I get to meet the most incredible couples, and every now and then a love story comes along that truly stays with me. E and D’s romantic elopement in Ronda was one of those.

They reached out to me from where they live in Miami with an idea that had been quietly growing for years. E told me that ever since she was a teenager, she just knew if she ever got married, she would elope. And when she met D, it turned out he completely shared that vision. Coming from big, loving families, they weren’t trying to escape their people (!) they simply wanted a moment that was just about them, for them and about them. Something intimate, meaningful, and deeply personal.

Their love of Spain, having been a few times previously, and the idea of eloping to somewhere as beautiful and unique as Ronda, was too exciting not to pursue. So once I shared with them what was possible for them and how I could bring their dream alive, they couldn't wait to get their date in the diary and get their elopement ball rolling.

They chose my Enhanced Ronda Elopement Experience, which includes:

  • Full elopement planning service + curated elopement resources
  • Custom ceremony creation + elopement ceremony delivery
  • Video call to finalise ceremony and elopement plans
  • 3 hours of professional photography (approx. 300 digital images)
  • An elopement videographer + a 5-minute video trailer of the day
  • A keepsake PDF of their ceremony script

Together, we created a plan that perfectly reflected their wishes and their story and I was so excited that I got to be a part of it and to make it happen.

The elopement day preparations

The day began at the beautiful Catalonia Reina Victoria Hotel (we highly recommend this stunning hotel, just a few minutes walk from the town centre), where we captured their quiet morning preparations. The anticipation, the joy, the little details—it was all there in those getting-ready moments.

The first look

Then came their first look a breathtaking moment on the hotel’s mirador and gardens, overlooking the stunning views of Ronda. D saw E in her dress for the first time, and it was every bit as emotional and magical as you’d imagine. This is a lovely moment that helps couples to get grounded into the elopement experience and start to settle into the day.

The ceremony

From there, we made our way down to the famous Tajo Gorge, with the dramatic Puente Nuevo bridge as their backdrop. It’s one of Ronda’s most iconic spots, and it was here that they shared the most moving, heartfelt vows they had written for each other. Their ceremony was full of emotion, tears, laughter, connection and I felt truly honoured to stand there with them as they promised their lives to one another. It gave me goosebumps to see this moment that we talked about, come alive.

Photo shoot around Ronda old town

After the ceremony, we wandered through the winding streets of Ronda’s historic old town for a relaxed and joyful photo session, stopping at some of the city’s most famous cultural and architectural sites. Every smile, every hand held, every loving glance, it was all captured beautifully by their photographer and videographer.

By the end of the day, E and D were glowing, even throughout the rainy spells which came our way (in October). They returned to Miami with full hearts, huge smiles, and a collection of stunning photos and video footage to share with their loved ones, bringing their families into the moment in such a special way.

Helping couples like E and D create a day that’s completely tailored to them is what I love most about my work as a celebrant. Eloping in Spain, especially in a place as spellbinding as Ronda, isn’t just about avoiding the stress of a big wedding. It’s about choosing intention, presence, and real connection.

And I promise you, there's nowhere more romantic or cinematic than Ronda for such a moment.
